San Antonio, TX

The Pontiac Southern Nationals returned in 2008 with a similar schedule of events as in years past, however, the location was very different.  Being hosted be the Dallas Area Pontiac Association, PSN has always been in Dallas , this year we gave San Antonio a try.

As of Friday evening, June 6th, the festivities were under way.  We had a Hospitality Suite with a catered barbeque dinner, provided by one of our sponsors, Ames Performance Engineering, for all to get acquainted; or as in many cases, reacquainted with old friends.  We think all will agree, this was some fine Texas Barbeque!

Saturday morning we all headed out to Retama Park , the local horse racing track, for the PSN all Pontiac Car Show.  We had to dodge some rain drops early in the day, but the sky cleared to a bright sunny day.  We had a nice turn out for the car show, as pictured below, and since the car show was in our own private section of the Retama parking lots, we were able to spread the cars out to 2 spaces each.  This was a relaxing day with good Music, good food, some of the finest Pontiacs in the country and test drives in the new Pontiac G8.  That’s right, test drives in the G8 courtesy of Red McCombs Superior Pontiac, another of our fine sponsors.

Saturday evening, some took advantage of the free entrance to the horse races at Retama Park as others went to explore the abundance of activities in San Antonio .

Sunday morning, we were off to another race track – the San Antonio Raceway quarter mile drag strip.  Again, this was an all Pontiac , or Pontiac powered, event and the track was “owned” by the Pontiac Southern Nationals for the day.   This was a good sunny day for some drag racing, as you can see by the photos below… sorry there aren’t too many, us photographers wanted to race too.

The Dallas Area Pontiac Association would like to thank all of our sponsors, and all the Pontiac lovers that attended, for making the Pontiac Southern Nationals 2008 possible.
